Corning: Digital Product Biography

Introduction

KNNX has implemented a solution utilizing MineTrace™ to establish a Digital Product Biography for every shipment of silicon tetrachloride from Evonik to Corning. This biography is generated by collecting event-based data from different sources as the product progresses through different gates.

Process Overview

The MineTrace™ platform follows a systematic process, commencing with the generation of a new shipment instance when the supplier includes relevant details. Subsequently, the supplier forwards the shipment details to the subsequent gate, specifically Inbound Transportation.
The detailed process is outlined below:

  1. Silicon Metal Supplier (Evonik):
The raw material i.e., Silicon is procured from Metal Supplier (Evonik's). The Sustainability Check information is manually entered into MineTrace™ during this stage.

  2. Inbound Transportation:
The raw material is transported to Evonik's production facilities via Inbound Transport. Information regarding the 'Transport Mode' is manually entered into MineTrace™ at this stage.

  3. Production (Silicon Tetrachloride):
At Evonik, the silicon raw material undergoes processing to generate the final product i.e., silicon tetrachloride. During this production phase key data such as 'batch number,' 'material number,' and 'CO2 emissions for Evonik Product' are manually entered into MineTrace™ during this production step. Additionally, the document 'Life Cycle Analysis' in PDF format is manually uploaded to the platform.

  4. Quality Requirement:
Silicon tetrachloride undergoes quality checks post-production. The 'Certificate of Origin' information is manually entered into MineTrace™. The documents 'Certificate of Analysis' and 'Safety Data Sheet' in PDF format are manually uploaded to the platform.

  5. Customer Service:
The customer service team adds details related to purchase orders received from the customer (Corning). The 'Customer Purchase Order' and 'Invoice' information are manually entered into MineTrace™. The document 'Order Acknowledgement' in PDF format is manually uploaded to the platform.

  6. Outbound Transportation:
The respective batches are transported to Corning via Outbound Transport. The 'Transport Mode' information is manually entered into MineTrace™ during this step.

  7. Customer (Corning):
Upon reaching Corning, the final product undergoes manufacturing and testing. The 'Attenuation Indicator' information is manually entered into MineTrace™.

This comprehensive breakdown ensures a meticulous record of the entire supply chain process, with manual entries and document uploads contributing to transparency and traceability in MineTrace™.
