The objective of this release is to enhance and streamline the ‘Accessorial Claim’ process for Waiting Time and Demurrage Claims for outbound loads. The addition of these features results in the improvement of the Accessorial request and approval process, thus continuing to support our customers such as Walmart Canada's Logistics Store Support.   

This release allows DL Freight™ to be a one-stop shop for invoice processing, eliminating the need for back-and-forth emails related to the claim, and having to wait for multiple days to seek approval for the claim. 

Additionally, we are adding the ability for DL Freight™ to automatically add approved Waiting Time and Demurrage claims directly to your shipment invoice – removing any duplication of effort for submitting the request, waiting for approval, and then re-entering the same data and submitting the charge on the invoice.

Features Delivered in this Update

Consolidation and streamlining of the Wait Time claim and Demurrage claim processes

  • The DL Freight™ platform has become the one-stop solution that will reduce the need for carriers to send separate Initial Driver Waiting (IDW) notifications and Waiting Time claims for a stop location for a shipment. 
  • Carriers no longer need to submit email templates for the IDW notifications, or for Waiting Time and Demurrage accessorial claims for Outbound loads.

Simplification of the Accessorial approvals process

  • IDW and Waiting Time claims have been consolidated into a single point of input. 
  • DL Freight™ pre-populates all relevant stop information for carriers, simplifying the information needed to submit an IDW. 
  • DL Freight™ automatically applies approval logic for Waiting Time claims and Demurrage claims and can provide a carrier with a near-instantaneous response to a claim, in most cases.

Automatic addition of approved Accessorial charges to Carrier’s invoice 

  • DL Freight™ simplifies the process of automatically adding an accessorial charge approved via this new process to a carrier’s invoice on behalf of the carrier.

Complete visibility of the claim approval status

  • Carriers will have the ability to view the status of their Accessorial claims – letting them know if the claim has been approved, rejected, or has been sent for manual assessment/approval.
